Friedland Foundation Fund

Created in 2008, the Friedland Foundation Fund's Scholar's Program instills hope of a college education in middle-school students burdened with socioeconomic disadvantages. Students must be enrolled in the seventh grade of a Title I school within the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools system to be eligible.

Donations to the Friedland Foundation Fund are used to assist in funding four scholarships annually. The primary scholarship guarantees fully-funded tuition for four years to a state school within North Carolina. The remaining three scholarships are partial scholarships for four years. The fund also requires the scholars to participate in a five year one-on-one relationship with a mentor from the seventh through the twelfth grades.

Friedland Foundation Social Capital Initiative

Building on the success of our Scholar's Program, the Friedland Foundation Social Capital Initiative was created in 2018 to provide scholarships and mentors to seventh-grade students enrolled in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools system. The initiative will collaborate with existing community organizations to align and share resources for students burdened with socioeconomic challenges. The services provided to each student in this program includes college scholarships, longitudinal mentoring and college guidance.

Donations to the Friedland Foundation Social Capital Initiative are used to assist in funding college scholarships. Each scholarship is valued at $20,000 ($5,000 a year for four years) for tuition and fees to any school selected by the scholar.
